Cybernetic modeling contains a PURPOSE component

  • cybernetic systems have both goal and action components in their representations
  • second-order cybernetic systems are those that can change their goal(s)
  • if such a system is observed as changing its goals over time, it will appear to not have a single specific goal
  • such systems are said to exhibit 'pupose'
