25: Setting up a discussion

Now imagine that you want to organize a group of your colleagues to conduct an on-going electronic conversation

An Intraspect Discussion is a powerful and elegant solution to the demands of collaboration in teams. Intraspect Discussions have many uses for teams and individuals, including group discussions and mailing lists; e-mail archiving; and the redistribution and archiving of documents and news feeds.

In Intraspect, discussions can work through e-mail clients, the Intraspect Client or a mix of both for complete flexibility. In addition, discussions can involve both Intraspect and non-Intraspect users (see the Overview of Intraspect Discussions for more details).

In this scenario, your work task is to coordinate a group conversation with colleagues, using an Intraspect Discussion.

Dialog prompts for title and description
  1. Identify a place to put the discussion; any shared folder, such as your Public Folder, is a logical place. Navigate to this folder and make it your current context; for example, click on the Public Folder button on the Main Toolbar. You can also put the new discussion into any shared folder by double-clicking on the folder before creating the discussion.
  2. Choose the New Discussion button from the Action Toolbar at the top of the Context Pane. The New Discussion dialog appears.
  3. Enter a title for the discussion. Remember that this title becomes the identity of the discussion to all the participants, so it must be both evocative and unique (see Naming in Intraspect for further guidance). Refer to screen shot
  4. Enter a description of the discussion that explains its purpose and focus, and serves as a reminder to the participants. Refer to screen shot

You have created a new discussion, but additional setup will extend its utility
